Ingredients

Ingredient Amount Notes
Dry Yeast 2 pkg  
Sugar ½ cup + 1 tsp  
Cooking Oil ½ cup  
Water 3 cups + 1 cup warm
Flour 8-9 cups  
Salt 1 Tbsp  
Wheat Germ ½ cup Optional
Soy Flour ½ cup Optional

Method

  1. Combine 1 cup warm water and 1 tsp sugar
  2. Sprinkle the yeast over the sugar water and let sit for 10 minutes
  3. Pour in the remaining warm water, oil, sugar, and salt
  4. Mix in flour 1 cup at a time
  5. Knead a little on table
  6. Oil a container, transfer dough to oiled containr, and cover
  7. Let rise 2 hours or until doubled in size
  8. Shape dough into 4 loaves
  9. Put into bread pans
  10. let rise an additional 2 hours
  11. Preheat oven to 400 °F
  12. Bake 20-25 minutes until nice and brown
  13. Cool on racks

  • Try adding wheat germ and/or soy flour
