Ingredients

| Dry Yeast | 2 pkg | |
| Sugar | ½ cup + 1 tsp | |
| Cooking Oil | ½ cup | |
| Water | 3 cups + 1 cup | warm |
| Flour | 8-9 cups | |
| Salt | 1 Tbsp | |
| Wheat Germ | ½ cup | Optional |
| Soy Flour | ½ cup | Optional |
Method
- Combine 1 cup warm water and 1 tsp sugar
- Sprinkle the yeast over the sugar water and let sit for 10 minutes
- Pour in the remaining warm water, oil, sugar, and salt
- Mix in flour 1 cup at a time
- Knead a little on table
- Oil a container, transfer dough to oiled containr, and cover
- Let rise 2 hours or until doubled in size
- Shape dough into 4 loaves
- Put into bread pans
- let rise an additional 2 hours
- Preheat oven to 400 °F
- Bake 20-25 minutes until nice and brown
- Cool on racks
Notes From Gran
- Try adding wheat germ and/or soy flour
